Jujutsu Kisen Maki Zenin has been testing out her first real fight in the Culling Game, and the latest chapter in the series reviews what kind of new power-ups will now be at her disposal going forward! It’s been a very rough time for Maki emotionally, spiritually and physically since the end of the Shibuya Incident, but as a result, she has reached a level of strength that can now handle all the new threats she faces in Culling. But it turns out early on that she’s still completely unaccustomed to dealing with her new body and abilities.
In the previous chapters of the series, Maki and Noritoshi Kamo took on their first real Culling Game challenge in the Sakurajima Colony, ending up with one of the biggest surprises being Naoya Zenin’s return from the dead as a new cursed soul with all the strength and intelligence he had before. But with it magnified even more, Maki has been struggling to find a way to keep up with the latest chapter of the series as she comes to a new understanding of what she can really do with her body.
Chapter 197 of Jujutsu Kisen Maki picks up after getting some help from Mio’s sumo-inspired field expansion, and it’s revealed that she’s already come to a new understanding of her own body. It was explained that in the time it took Maki and Kyo to complete the 1,000 sumo matches necessary to end the field, less than a minute had passed in the outside world. It was revealed that with this new understanding of her new body bestowed upon Mai, Maki is now much faster and more elegantly moving than the augmented Naoya.
With this new understanding of herself, she understood the kinds of moves Toji Fushiguro could have made. She can even see ripples in the air pressure around her, and using that is able to counter Naoya’s quick attacks. It’s something Maki will now use to get to her next major boost in strength as it’s now clear she has a higher ceiling of power than ever before.
